PASTOR ANGEL PECK

In January of 2004, Pastor Angel Peck sent word, through Pastor Ambrosio Shal, he would like to meet with us. His village of Maya Mopan is in the foothills of Belize, with a high concentration of wild jaguars. His village has no electricity, so he was using lantern light during his church services. One Sunday afternoon, after our morning service in Santa Rosa Village, Pastor Ambrosio said he felt we should all go to Maya Mopan. When we arrived, Angel Peck was trying to find a ride to come visit with us. He said, “I have prayed about our village and, I felt led to speak to you.” When we arrived to see him that Sunday afternoon, he told us he felt the Holy Spirit had drawn us to him that day. We sat for hours and listened, as he shared his testimony with us.

Pastor Peck has a small cement block church with a cardboard roof. He made each block himself by hand with a small block making machine. He is a farmer, living off the crops he grows, and managed to buy a bag of cement every three months to make blocks. He laid the foundation and block himself as he made them. The men in his church congregation had helped with the homemade roof. The church has no doors or windows, and has boards with concrete blocks for pews. The roof had started to leak and Angel Peck felt an urgency to make arrangements before the roof caved in. He had seen our church in Santa Rosa Village, and heard of us through some of the villagers.

Pastor Peck told us he needed help from missionaries. They not only needed a roof on the church, but bibles and teaching materials for their children. But most of all, he needed support and encouragement. He felt alone and had cried out to God to show him what to do. Then one day, he heard other people talking about the beautiful church in Santa Rosa Village and how the pastor there had also been alone, crying out to the Lord. So, he sent word to Pastor Ambrosio Shal in Santa Rosa, to please come with his missionaries to visit.

This humble Mayan man has a name so fitting! He is truly an angel. His humble spirit and hunger to serve Jesus is so apparent.

We had several meetings with Pastor Peck and his church congregation, and attended several of their Sunday morning services in Maya Mopan before we all committed to each other. We all understood our commitment was a very serious step. We were entering into a covenant together to be servants of the gospel of Jesus. He told us his spirit bared witness of his decision. Since that time, we have grown very close to Angel Peck and the people in Maya Mopan Village. We are currently seeking donations to expand his church and put on a new metal roof. We have given out not only bibles and teaching materials there, but bags of lice shampoo and medicines they needed so very much. Some of the children in Maya Mopan have terrible sores all over their bodies. Others have pink eye and fever, among other physical aliments.

We now have a weekly bible study for the fifty (plus) children, and a weekly ladies bible study.

Our ministry has given a generator and an accordion to the Maya Mopan Church.
We feel so honored to have an “angel” as part of our ministry here in Belize.
Pastor Angel Peck is an angel and humble servant of The Lord Jesus.
